The official name of Ginkakuji Temple is Higashiyama Jishoji Temple,

and the origin of the name Ginkakuji Temple is said to have been named Ginkakuji Temple

in the Edo period, in contrast to Kinkakuji Temple.

From Mt. Gekimachi, you can see the autumn leaves in the premises of Ginkakuji.

 



 

Best viewing time for autumn leaves:   Mid-November to early December

Place:   2 Ginkakuji-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto

Open:   8:30-17:00 in the summer season and 9:00-16:30 in the winter season.

Closed:   Open all year round. Opening hours may vary during special visits

Access:   Get off the city bus at Ginkakuji Road from JR Kyoto Station.

Fee:   ¥500 for adults and high school students, ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students
