Gion Festival, one of the three major festivals in Japan

2022年6月25日
The summer-like temperatures have begun.

Have you ever heard of the Gion Festival?

It is a month-long festival held in Kyoto from July to July 31.

The festival has been held on a smaller scale for some time due to measures to prevent the spread of the  coronavirus, but this year, for the first time in two years, the festival will be held as usual with food stalls. (The schedule may be changed if a state of emergency or measures to prevent the spread of the virus are declared.)

The festival with food truck will be held only on July 15 (Fri.) and 16 (Sat.), which are called "Yoiyama" and "Yoiyoiyama".

Since I am from Kyoto, I go there every year, and there are so many people that it is hard to walk around, even with cars blocked off!

I always walk around with yukata while eating frankfurters and takoyaki (octopus balls).

By the way, Kyoto Shijo-Karasuma House is within easy reach of the Gion Festival. We can go to the Gion Festival with everyone in the house!

Let's enjoy the festival after a long absence!
